Diesel prices in the United States have climbed to a record high, crossing $6.2 per gallon amid continued volatility in global oil markets.
Brent crude has risen to around $108 per barrel, while US crude is trading at approximately $103 per barrel. UAE Murban crude has also been trading at around $119 per barrel.
The continued rise in global oil prices could increase pressure on fuel-importing countries, including Pakistan. The new prices of petroleum products in Pakistan are expected to be announced tonight.
Meanwhile, people took to the streets in Syria to protest the government’s decision to increase fuel prices. Demonstrators reportedly damaged property and burned tyres. The Syrian government had raised diesel prices by 40% and petrol prices by 28%.
