The State Bank of Pakistan has released the latest figures for workers' remittances, showing that overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States sent a combined nearly $2.50 billion to Pakistan in August.
According to the State Bank, Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia sent $873.5 million during the month, making the Kingdom the largest source of remittances among the four major destinations.
Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates sent $749.8 million, while remittances from the United Kingdom reached $563.7 million.
The United States also remained a significant source of foreign currency, with Pakistani residents sending $308.9 million to the country during August.
Together, the four countries accounted for approximately $2.496 billion in remittances during the month, highlighting the continued importance of overseas Pakistanis to Pakistan's foreign exchange inflows.
The State Bank said workers' remittances from Dubai during the first two months of the current fiscal year were 35% higher than during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, overall workers' remittances increased by 15% during the first two months of the current fiscal year, according to the central bank.
Remittances from overseas Pakistanis remain a major source of foreign exchange for the country and provide vital financial support to millions of families across Pakistan.
