Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the Chief Minister Electric Bike Scheme, offering eligible students electric bikes at a subsidised price and on easy monthly instalments.
Under the scheme, 100,000 students from government and private schools, colleges and universities across Punjab will be eligible to receive electric bikes.
The original price of a bike has been set at Rs199,000, but after government subsidy, students will have to pay only Rs109,000.
The amount will be payable over 36 months, bringing the monthly instalment to approximately Rs3,028.
According to officials, the Punjab government will bear the costs of insurance, markup and registration, reducing the financial burden on students. Pink electric bikes will also be available specifically for female students.
Online registration for the scheme began on September 5, 2026, and eligible students can submit their applications through the designated online portal.
The Punjab government says the initiative aims to provide students, particularly female students, with affordable and convenient transportation while promoting environmentally friendly electric mobility across the province.
