ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said a Rs3 billion risk pool will expand access to export credit insurance, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The remarks came during a meeting on the Export Development Fund (EDF), where the prime minister was briefed on the organisation’s restructuring and reform measures.
Shehbaz said the capital held by the EDF is being utilised to facilitate the business community, while the fund’s leadership has been handed over to private-sector experts following the reforms.
According to the prime minister, the measures aim to boost exports, strengthen business activity and help position Pakistan as a global investment hub.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to developing an export-led economy.
