The Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, has announced an increase in salaries for government employees along with enhanced financial support for citizens. The new measures came into effect on September 1, 2026.
According to the announcement, 17,776 government employees will benefit from the salary increases, while the minimum monthly salary for government employees has been set at AED 20,000, equivalent to more than Rs. 1.5 million in Pakistani currency.
Financial assistance has also been increased for 6,652 families receiving social support. In addition, the minimum income of 2,251 retired government citizens has been raised, while additional financial assistance has been increased for another 5,300 retirees.
Officials said the measures were introduced in view of rising living costs and citizens' financial needs, with the aim of providing greater financial stability and ensuring that essential needs can be met.
Sheikh Sultan also encouraged Emirati citizens to avoid unnecessary borrowing. Authorities further urged parents to limit their children's use of mobile phones and other electronic devices, while government facilities are being provided to support children's healthy nutrition and upbringing.
