Car theft incidents in Lahore have recorded a significant decline, with only 37 cases reported during the first seven months of 2026 compared with 148 cases during the same period last year, according to police data.
The figures indicate an overall 75 percent reduction in reported car theft cases across the city.
Division-wise data shows that cases in City Division fell from 8 last year to 3 this year, while Cantonment Division recorded a decline from 30 cases to 6. In Civil Lines Division, reported cases dropped from 18 to 9.
Similarly, Sadar Division saw cases fall from 33 to 7, while Iqbal Town Division recorded a decline from 13 to just 2 cases. Model Town Division also reported a substantial reduction, with cases falling from 46 last year to 10 during the first seven months of the current year.
The sharp decline in reported car theft cases marks a notable development in Lahore's crime statistics and may reflect the impact of police surveillance and crime-prevention measures.
