The first PSA Satellite International Squash Tournament has begun at the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex in Peshawar.
Former world squash champion Qamar Zaman was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Squash legend Mohibullah Khan, Pakistan Squash Federation Academy Director Group Captain Irfan Asghar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association General Secretary Mansoor Zaman and other officials and squash personalities also attended the event.
In the opening match, Saeed Abdul defeated Shahab Khan in four games, winning 11-3, 11-7, 11-7 and 11-3.
Organisers said the international-level event will provide young Pakistani squash players with an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and gain valuable competitive experience.
They expressed hope that the tournament would also help Pakistani players improve their world rankings and gain greater exposure to international competition.
