Egyptian squash player Salman Khalil claimed the Pakistan Navy Fleet Club Open International Squash Championship title after defeating Pakistan's Nasir Iqbal in the final.
The championship final was played at the Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex under the auspices of the Sindh Squash Association. Third seed Salman Khalil secured a straight-games victory over Nasir Iqbal with scores of 14-12, 11-3, and 13-11.
The tournament featured a total prize purse of US$41,000. Commander Karachi, Vice Admiral Faisal Amin, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, while squash legend Jahangir Khan and former Sindh Governor Moinuddin Haider were also present.
Vice Admiral Faisal Amin said the Pakistan Navy would continue supporting sports and promoting talented athletes across the country.
Sindh Squash Association President Adnan Asad announced that several more high-prize international squash tournaments would be organized in the near future.
Speaking at the ceremony, squash legend Jahangir Khan expressed hope that Pakistani players would qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics and win a gold medal, urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to hard work.
