Karachi: Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has expressed disappointment over the condition of Karachi, saying he feels embarrassed by the city's current state and urging authorities to prioritize its development.
Speaking to journalists, Afridi said Karachi is Pakistan's largest city and provides livelihoods to millions of people. However, he noted that residents continue to face serious challenges, including damaged roads, poor sewerage, inadequate sanitation, and shortages of clean drinking water.
Afridi said he had visited Karachi after several years and expected to see noticeable improvements and development projects, but found that the city's overall condition had changed very little.
Referring specifically to University Road, he said the area has remained under construction for years, creating continuous inconvenience for commuters and residents.
The former captain urged the relevant authorities to take immediate and effective steps to improve Karachi's infrastructure and public services, expressing hope that the city would eventually receive the attention and development it deserves.
