Lahore — Twenty-five Pakistani citizens held in Indian detention crossed back into Pakistan through the Wagah border on Friday, ending imprisonments that for many ran well beyond their original sentences.
The Fishermen's Cooperative Society identified the returning men as fishermen from Karachi and Thatta — the two districts that supply much of the workforce along Sindh's coast.
Fishermen working the Arabian Sea are routinely detained when their boats drift across the maritime boundary, which is neither marked nor easily read from a small vessel. Arrests on both sides have continued for decades, and releases are typically negotiated in batches.
