ISLAMABAD: Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has expressed concern over society’s negative attitude toward widowed and divorced women who wish to remarry.
In a video message shared on social media, Abbasi said that a section of society particularly looks down upon widowed or divorced women, especially those with children, when they consider getting married again.
He stressed that such negative perceptions should be discouraged and that women should instead be supported and given the freedom to make important decisions about their personal lives.
Abbasi said whether someone chooses to remarry or not should be entirely their own decision, adding that unnecessary interference in another person’s personal choices is inappropriate.
He further emphasized that women who wish to remarry should not be viewed negatively, describing remarriage as a personal right granted to them by their faith.
