Pakistani actor Shahood Alvi has clarified his controversial remarks about his wife, saying that his comments were taken out of context and did not reflect his personal beliefs.
In a clarification posted on Instagram, Alvi explained that the remarks were made during a private television programme after a caller raised a question, which was discussed by all the guests participating in the programme.
The actor said the original context of his comments was different and that his remarks should not be interpreted as his personal views.
Alvi stressed that he believes in women’s autonomy and supports the independence of his wife and daughters. He also expressed appreciation for his wife and acknowledged the support and efforts she has made for him.
He further said that he takes care of his wife’s needs and values everything she has done for him.
The actor also criticised those who, according to him, take statements out of context or target people's reputations merely to generate views.
