More than 15.5 million eligible citizens have registered under the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Programme, with payments amounting to Rs28.6 billion made by November 4, according to a briefing at a review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Officials informed the meeting that registered beneficiaries include approximately 15.06 million motorcycle owners and owners of vehicles up to 800cc.

More than 63.15 million fuel subsidy tokens have been issued under the scheme, of which over 59.44 million have been used.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the programme's performance and transparency, directing authorities to immediately cancel the licences of petrol pumps that fail to facilitate registered beneficiaries.

The meeting was also informed that separate call centres had been activated to provide information and address complaints from consumers and petrol pump operators.
