China has developed an advanced firefighting robot designed to assist rescue teams in extremely dangerous, high-temperature environments.

According to Chinese media reports, the four-legged Tianlang firefighting robot has successfully completed training for rescue operations in environments reaching temperatures of up to 500°C. The robot is equipped with heat-resistant protective equipment.

Scientists say Tianlang can operate inside extreme fire conditions for approximately two minutes. It can detect the source of a fire and identify the presence of toxic gases.

The robot can also help locate people trapped in hazardous environments, potentially providing rescue teams with critical information before human firefighters enter a burning building.

The technology is intended to reduce risks for firefighters operating in environments where extreme heat, intense flames and toxic gases make immediate human entry highly dangerous.

The company developing the robot hopes Tianlang can eventually be deployed to assess fire conditions inside buildings before firefighters enter, helping emergency teams make better-informed decisions during rescue operations.
