Islamabad:- (Afzal Shah) The GSMA, the global association representing the mobile telecommunications industry, has released its Digital Pakistan 2030 report, stating that Pakistan has established a strong foundation for digital transformation and is making steady progress toward becoming a digital economy.
Presenting the report in Islamabad, Julian Gorman, Head of Asia Pacific at GSMA, said Pakistan must accelerate sustainable investment, strengthen trusted digital infrastructure, maintain policy continuity, and promote inclusive economic growth to achieve the Digital Pakistan 2030 vision.
According to the report, recent spectrum policy reforms have improved the investment climate, while digital inclusion has also shown remarkable progress. Women's mobile internet usage increased from 45% in 2024 to 53% in 2025, and the gender gap in mobile internet adoption narrowed from 25% to just 8%.
The report noted that improvements in digital governance have strengthened technology's role in enhancing national competitiveness. It also described digital technologies as a key driver of productivity, innovation, employment, and long-term economic growth.
GSMA recommended prioritizing trusted digital infrastructure, increased investment, stronger cyber trust, wider digital inclusion, and closer collaboration between the government, industry, and development partners by 2030. The report concluded that while Pakistan is moving rapidly toward a digital economy, sustaining this momentum will require continued policy support, investment, and coordinated efforts across all sectors.
