France has permanently closed its Consulate General in Karachi, with the French consulate also issuing a farewell message to the city.
In its message, the French Consulate thanked its friends and partners in Karachi as it brought its operations in the city to an end. The French and European Union flags have also been removed from the consulate premises.
According to the report, the decision to close the Consulate General in Karachi was taken due to budgetary reasons. The closure was announced in July by the French Consul General in Karachi during an event held to mark France’s National Day.
The permanent closure means that France’s direct consular presence in Karachi has come to an end. Further arrangements regarding consular services will be handled through the mechanisms designated by France.
