A meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in Karachi reviewed measures to prevent the spread of fake and misleading information.
Sharjeel Memon said attempts to harm anyone through false or misleading information would not be tolerated. He said assistance would be sought from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency to tackle fake news, while mainstream and social media platforms would be monitored on a daily basis.
He also directed the Information Department to establish a monitoring system to identify fake news. According to Memon, coordination between the Information Department and the relevant cybercrime agency would be strengthened to take action against those creating and spreading false information.
The senior minister said the Sindh government’s narrative was based on peace, tolerance, harmony and national unity, and called for representatives of all segments of society to be included in the government’s narrative.
