Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that US President Donald Trump described Iran as a terrorist state, while the Iranian people themselves have been victims of terrorism.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Pezeshkian said Iran had exercised its right to self-defense and that its military actions were directed at US targets rather than civilians.
The Iranian president accused the United States and Israel of attacks that, according to him, caused civilian casualties and displacement, including women and children.
Pezeshkian also referred to the attack on a school in Minab and criticized what he described as violations of international law.
He said the situation in Gaza and Palestine remained a major challenge for the international community and called for greater regional cooperation to promote peace and stability.
The Iranian president also said Tehran did not need anyone’s permission to defend its territory and called on the international community to end what he described as double standards toward Iran.
Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes and said Tehran wants cooperation on regional security. The US delegation walked out during his address.
