Hangu: Police launched a large-scale operation after militants attacked the Khazina Check Post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu district. According to police officials, eight suspected militants were killed while six others were injured during the operation.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat Irfan Tariq said that DSP Diyar Khan was martyred while leading the operation from the front lines. DSP Mujahid Hussain was among 23 police personnel injured during the operation.
Police also stated that five additional officers were injured in the initial attack on the Khazina Check Post, bringing the total number of injured police personnel to 28.
According to officials, the police displayed exceptional bravery, successfully repelled the militant assault, and prevented the attackers from achieving their objective.
RPO Irfan Tariq praised the courage of the police force, saying he was proud of the officers who fought fearlessly during the operation.
Police later confirmed that two more personnel were martyred alongside DSP Diyar Khan. However, officials said that the exact total number of martyrs is still being verified, and a final official confirmation is awaited.
