More than 150 citizens have allegedly been defrauded of around Rs. 60 million by travel agents who reportedly promised overseas employment and visas, prompting affected individuals to protest outside the Lahore Press Club.
According to the victims, they contacted the agents after seeing advertisements on social media offering opportunities to travel abroad and secure employment. They claimed they handed over their lifetime savings but neither received the promised visas nor got their money back.
The affected citizens also alleged that the agents took possession of their passports, educational certificates and other important documents, leaving several families facing serious difficulties.
The protesters claimed that despite repeated complaints, no effective action had been taken against the alleged fraudsters by the relevant authorities.
The victims called on the Prime Minister, Punjab Chief Minister and other concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the matter, launch action against those responsible and help recover their money and documents.
The protesters said they would continue their campaign until their grievances were addressed.
