Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticized the post-election situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), urging the state to decide whether it prioritizes Pakistan's national interest or the political interests of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Addressing party workers, Bilawal claimed that the people of Mirpur and several other constituencies had given the PPP a clear mandate, but their democratic decision was not being respected. He alleged that attempts were being made to influence the political process and form a government through pressure and unfair means.
Bilawal emphasized that the PPP stands with the state of Pakistan and supports national interests, but said the party would not remain silent if political interests were placed above democratic values. He called on the state to "open its eyes" and assess what, in his view, was happening in Azad Kashmir under the banner of protecting PML-N's interests.
He further stated that the PPP would continue to defend the public mandate and vowed not to allow Azad Kashmir's democratic process to be undermined.
