Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Aleema Khan has been detained in Lahore under the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO) and shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail, according to a fresh report by Jang.
Party sources said Aleema Khan was leaving her residence in Upper Mall to go to the gym when she was taken into custody by Latif Road Police. Her vehicle was reportedly parked at the Latif Road police station before she was transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Her sister Noreen Niazi told Geo News that the family had received information that Aleema Khan had been taken to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar condemned Aleema Khan's detention and called for her immediate release. He said the party did not want confrontation or violence and argued that her detention could contribute to increased political tensions.
The detention comes as PTI has announced a September 27 march towards Islamabad.
