Awami National Party (ANP) Central President Senator Aimal Wali Khan has condemned the blast at a mosque inside Kohat Police Lines and expressed solidarity with the families affected by the incident.
In his statement, Aimal Wali Khan said targeting worshippers inside a place of worship was highly condemnable. He said a mosque is a house of God and Islam is a religion of peace and security, adding that those who spill the blood of innocent people in places of worship are enemies of humanity and Islam.
The ANP leader questioned whether citizens could expect protection of their lives and property if the state was unable to ensure their security. He also expressed concern over continuing incidents of violence and terrorism across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Aimal Wali Khan called for effective measures by both the federal and provincial governments to counter terrorism and restore peace. He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa needed security, peace and effective governance rather than statements of condemnation alone.
He also called for action against those facilitating or supporting terrorist activities and said the state needed to demonstrate seriousness in addressing the security situation.
According to officials, the Kohat Police Lines blast resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, while security forces conducted a clearance operation in the area. Initial reports indicated that investigations into the nature of the attack and those responsible were underway.
Aimal Wali Khan expressed condolences to the affected families and prayed for the victims and the speedy recovery of those injured.
