Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, alleging that medical staff are protesting and going on strike in the province while the chief minister and his cabinet are touring Lahore.
In a statement issued from Lahore, Bukhari claimed that young doctors in Dera Ismail Khan were continuing their strike over their demands. She also said that the Medical Stores Association in KP was on strike.
According to Bukhari, the protests have created difficulties for patients and their families visiting government hospitals.
She further claimed that employees of Gomal University were also protesting and alleged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had effectively been left without attention for the past two days.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions between the provincial and Punjab governments.
