BRICS leaders, including China, Russia and India, held the second day of their summit in New Delhi on Sunday, focusing on economic cooperation, global trade and inclusive growth.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for greater cooperation among BRICS members, saying the bloc’s strength lies in its diversity and collective efforts. He noted that BRICS represents around 50% of the world’s population, 40% of global GDP and more than 25% of global trade.
Chinese President Xi Jinping also called for stronger economic cooperation and a more equal and sustainable global order. He said China and India, despite their differences, could complement each other’s strengths, achieve mutual success and advance together.
The first day of the summit was dominated by the escalating conflict in the Middle East. BRICS leaders expressed deep concern over the situation and called on all sides to exercise maximum restraint.
Xi’s visit to India was also seen as a significant step in the cautious improvement of relations between the two Asian powers. The two leaders expressed their commitment to finding a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable resolution to their long-running border dispute.
