At least 46,000 people have been displaced by fighting in Yemen over the past week, according to Amy Pope, Secretary General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Pope said the number of displaced people is increasing by the hour, with many families being forced to leave their homes for a second or even third time.

She warned that the spread of fighting is also making it increasingly difficult for humanitarian aid to reach affected communities.

Pope called on all parties to the conflict to protect civilians and aid workers and ensure the safety of humanitarian supplies, vehicles and facilities.
