ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited the Nepalese Embassy in Islamabad and expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the recent devastating floods and landslides in Nepal.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote his remarks in the condolence book at the embassy in memory of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
Nepalese Ambassador Rita Dhital received the prime minister at the embassy. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch and other senior officials also accompanied him.
The prime minister conveyed deep sympathy and condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the government and people of Nepal, particularly the families who lost their loved ones in the disaster.
He reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with Nepal and referred to his recent telephone conversation with Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also informed the Nepalese ambassador that Pakistan would dispatch emergency relief supplies to Nepal later this week to support ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for Nepal and highlighted the longstanding brotherly relations between the two countries, saying Pakistan and Nepal would continue to stand by each other in times of need.
Ambassador Rita Dhital thanked the prime minister for his words of sympathy and encouragement, saying the solidarity shown by Pakistan’s leadership would be remembered by the people of Nepal.
