Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that the government would welcome any practical proposal from Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) aimed at reducing the petroleum levy and providing relief to the public.

A PML-N delegation met JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman at Mansoorah in Lahore. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal said the government had formed a committee for negotiations and had also requested Jamaat-e-Islami to form its own negotiating team.

He said the government was making efforts to provide maximum relief to the public and would present its position before the JI negotiating team.

Senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah said Hafiz Naeemur Rehman had indicated that JI had proposals that could provide relief to the people.
