ISLAMABAD: Pakistan remains hopeful that the United States and Iran will eventually return to the negotiating table despite the latest escalation between the two countries, the Foreign Office said.
During his weekly briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi described the current tensions as concerning and undesirable, but said Pakistan had not lost hope in diplomacy and the peace process.
The spokesperson said the renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran should not be viewed as a failure of Pakistan’s mediation efforts. He emphasized that Pakistan remains sincerely engaged in efforts aimed at promoting peace and resolving the dispute through dialogue.
Pakistan hopes that both sides will ultimately return to negotiations and pursue a diplomatic solution.
The Foreign Office spokesperson also said that India’s rejection of a court ruling concerning the Indus Waters Treaty does not absolve New Delhi of its obligations under the agreement. Pakistan has urged India to return to full implementation of the treaty.
