The possible date for the beginning of Ramadan 2027 has emerged, with astronomical calculations suggesting that the holy month could begin on Monday, February 8, 2027.
The date, however, will remain subject to the official sighting of the crescent moon. According to current astronomical predictions, the Ramadan crescent is expected to be searched for on the evening of Sunday, February 7, 2027.
If the crescent is sighted, Muslims are expected to offer the first Taraweeh prayers that evening, followed by the first fast on February 8.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Since the lunar year is approximately 10 to 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar year, Ramadan moves earlier each year and gradually falls across different seasons.
Based on current astronomical estimates, Eid al-Fitr could begin on Wednesday, March 10, 2027, although the final date will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.
Ramadan is considered one of the holiest periods for Muslims, marked by fasting from dawn to sunset, prayers, Quran recitation, charity and increased spiritual reflection.
