Iran has stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen immediately, even if an agreement is reached with Oman.
According to Iranian state media, the ongoing discussions with Oman are not directly related to the United States. Tehran emphasized that reopening the strategic waterway depends on a change in Washington's behavior and what Iran describes as the correction of previous violations.
Earlier, US media reported that the United States, Iran, and Oman were close to reaching a 60-day temporary arrangement covering the Strait of Hormuz. The proposed deal reportedly includes reopening the waterway, removing naval mines, and refraining from imposing additional transit fees.
However, Iran's latest statement suggests that any understanding with Oman alone will not be sufficient to reopen the Strait immediately, indicating that Tehran's broader political conditions must first be addressed.
