US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that the United States could take further military action against Iran if necessary, saying that Washington has not ended its attacks against Tehran.
Speaking to reporters in Wisconsin, Hegseth also claimed that the United States has established full control over the Strait of Hormuz and that oil shipments have resumed.
He said economic pressure was currently causing significant damage to Iran and argued that Tehran's only option was to return to the negotiating table.
Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced new sanctions targeting Iran's digital assets, technology, gold, aviation and shipping sectors.
According to the US administration, countries and companies conducting transactions with Iran could also face American sanctions. The US Treasury Department has additionally offered rewards of up to $10 million for information concerning five senior officials of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The latest statements and sanctions indicate that Washington is continuing to combine economic pressure with the threat of further military action against Iran.
