Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, while addressing the 57th meeting of the provincial cabinet, expressed serious concern over the health of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and called for implementation of court orders regarding his medical treatment.
Afridi alleged that the Supreme Court had ordered Imran Khan to receive treatment at Shifa International Hospital in the presence of his sister and personal doctors, but claimed that the federal government did not properly comply with the court’s directions. He further alleged that Khan was brought to the hospital at night under what he described as improper circumstances.
The chief minister said Imran Khan had been kept in solitary confinement for several months and claimed that his health problems were linked to his treatment in custody. He urged the courts to ensure that all judicial orders concerning Khan were implemented in letter and spirit.
Afridi also said that ignoring judicial orders amounted to disrespecting the judiciary, adding that the public was closely watching the courts.
EV Bikes for Women
The KP government also announced an electric bike scheme for women. According to the chief minister, female students from colleges and universities as well as working women will be provided EV bikes strictly on merit.
He said the first phase of the scheme would be launched soon. The provincial government also plans to introduce an EV rickshaw scheme, which Afridi said would contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.
He further directed authorities to accelerate work on electric bus projects in divisional headquarters.
Development Projects to Be Accelerated
The chief minister directed departments to speed up all public-interest schemes included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP), calling for measures beyond bureaucratic hurdles and political negligence.
Afridi appreciated the performance of the Planning & Development Department but called for further acceleration of development projects.
