The Government of Sindh has approved a new weekly schedule under which all public and private schools across the province will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
According to the decision approved by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, schools will operate from Monday to Friday, with teaching hours extended by one hour each day to ensure that academic activities continue effectively.
The provincial government stated that the decision has been taken as part of cost-saving measures and to ensure more efficient utilization of available resources.
Earlier, Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah had announced that public schools would operate six days a week starting August 1, 2026. However, under the latest decision, both public and private schools across Sindh will now observe weekends on Saturdays and Sundays while following the revised weekday schedule.
