Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has warned that if a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan is not allowed on Thursday, Pakistan will be turned into a “D-Chowk” by 10pm that night.
Speaking at a press conference at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad alongside PTI leaders including Salman Akram Raja, Afridi said all parliamentarians would go to Adiala Jail on Thursday, while lawmakers would stage a sit-in outside the Supreme Court the previous day.
Afridi said the PTI founder's family was prepared to guarantee that no political discussion would take place during the meeting. He urged the authorities to accept the family's assurance and allow the meeting.
The KP chief minister said their primary demand was that Imran Khan receive proper medical treatment and expressed concern over the health of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
Afridi also alleged that Imran Khan had not merely been arrested but had been “abducted” and was being kept in jail unjustly. He held the government, jail administration and other relevant authorities responsible for concerns regarding the PTI founder's health.
The chief minister further claimed that young people across Pakistan were frustrated and angry and did not see a future for themselves in the country. He said young people were prepared to come out onto the streets and referred to September 27 as a day when the entire nation would come out.
Afridi had previously announced a march towards Islamabad for September 27, with demands including allowing Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to meet family members and personal physicians.
