Investigation into the murder of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza is continuing, with statements of 41 people recorded so far, according to investigative sources.

Sources said statements have been obtained from Mir Raza’s friends, business partner, guesthouse staff and other relevant individuals. Investigators have also prepared a list of people to whom the deceased was reportedly required to make payments.

According to the sources, investigators have obtained complete details regarding the guesthouse linked to the case. The property owner had rented the premises to a person through a broker, who subsequently rented it to another individual for use as a guesthouse. Statements of all relevant individuals involved in the rental arrangement have also been recorded.

Investigative sources said any person can be brought into the investigation under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The investigation is being pursued in light of both medical reports of Mir Raza, while the geofencing report of the crime scene has also been obtained.

Sources said investigators are awaiting further forensic work on the IPDR details and the deceased’s smartwatch. The analysis of these materials is expected to take some time.

Investigators are examining statements, forensic evidence and other available material to establish the circumstances of the incident and determine the motive and circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
