Brigadier General Yadollah Javani, political deputy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has said that the ongoing war should end in accordance with the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Speaking to Iranian media, Javani said that progress toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz would depend on the United States fulfilling its commitments under the memorandum.
He said arrangements concerning the Strait of Hormuz would not return to the situation that existed before the war. According to Javani, the United States, Israel and their allies had failed to take control of the strategic waterway from Iran.
The IRGC political deputy further said that talks between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz were focused on the final termination of the war and arrangements for the period that follows.
