The National Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution expressing deep grief and sorrow over the deaths of newborn babies in the recent fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.
The resolution strongly condemned the tragic incident and expressed serious concern over the circumstances that led to the loss of precious lives. The House called on the government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the causes of the fire.
The resolution stated that if negligence or failure to implement required safety measures is established, those responsible must face strict legal action.
The National Assembly also demanded that all facts surrounding the incident be brought before the public and that individuals responsible for any negligence or failure to comply with safety protocols be identified and held accountable.
The resolution further called for strict implementation of fire-safety protocols and emergency response arrangements at federally administered hospitals, particularly neonatal and children's units, to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The House also expressed sympathy and condolences to the families of the deceased newborns and prayed for patience and strength for them.
The resolution was moved by MNA and Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Danial Chaudhary, who also serves as Federal Coordinator for the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights.
