Afghanistan's intelligence agency has arrested two staff members working with the United Nations' aid mission, according to the United Nations.

The UN said the two detained personnel have not been informed of the allegations against them, while UN representatives have also not been granted access to meet them.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern over the detentions and called for the special status of the UN personnel to be respected.

Guterres urged the Taliban to fully uphold the privileges and immunities granted to the United Nations and its personnel under international arrangements.
