Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has stated that the current political system has lost the trust of the public and that a complete political "reset" has become inevitable.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar said that instead of forming more governments under the existing circumstances, the leadership should return to the people. He argued that after a key government ally described the Prime Minister as a product of rigged elections, the Prime Minister should have immediately sought a vote of confidence.
According to Barrister Gohar, the government's failure to do so has resulted in the loss of its moral legitimacy. He further claimed that the governing structure has effectively collapsed and that the government has lost its constitutional, legal, and democratic standing.
He added that the constitutional option of bringing a vote of no confidence remains available and that consultations with allied parties would continue. Barrister Gohar also urged all political stakeholders to build consensus and find a constitutional solution to the country's ongoing political crisis.
