Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that if the matter were in his hands, the treatment of the PTI founder would have been completed by now.

Fazlur Rehman made the remarks after meeting opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai in his chamber, where the two sides discussed the formation of a united opposition and a joint parliamentary strategy.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Fazlur Rehman said there was a principled agreement that opposition parties should move towards forming a united opposition.

He said the opposition wanted to play a joint parliamentary role and that further consultations and meetings would be held on the matter.

Fazlur Rehman also said that an environment should be created for an All Parties Conference of opposition parties.

Asked whether the Pakistan Peoples Party would be brought into the alliance, the JUI-F chief said that the PPP is part of the government.

Fazlur Rehman’s delegation included Kamran Murtaza and Maulana Wasi, while Achakzai was accompanied by Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai and Asad Qaiser.
