Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Türkiye, U.S. President Donald Trump said he believes the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iran is effectively over and that the ceasefire has also come to an end.
Trump stated that he no longer wants to negotiate with Tehran, describing any further talks with Iran as "a waste of time." He reiterated that the United States remains committed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The U.S. president claimed that American forces carried out powerful strikes against Iran overnight, warning that any future Iranian attack would be met with a strong military response. According to Trump, Washington's objective is to ensure Iran is permanently deprived of nuclear capabilities.
Using strong language, Trump compared Iran to "cancer," saying such threats must be eliminated before they spread.
He also criticized NATO allies, claiming they failed to support the United States regarding Iran and complained that Washington bears a disproportionate share of the alliance's financial burden.
In addition, Trump said he had instructed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to terminate all trade with Spain, adding that he no longer wishes to conduct business with the country.
