The discussions are expected to focus on regional security, the confrontation involving Iran and the United States, Houthi attacks linked to Yemen, and efforts to prevent further escalation across the Middle East.
Saudi officials have described the visit as part of ongoing efforts to reduce tensions, promote dialogue and diplomatic solutions, and support mediation efforts led by Pakistan and Qatar. Iranian officials have also expressed hope that regional countries can work together to develop security arrangements based on their shared interests.
The talks are taking place as Saudi Arabia faces continued security concerns linked to Houthi attacks and tensions across the region. No final agreement or outcome from the meeting had been announced in the reports available at the time of writing.
