Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has described the establishment of Google’s first local office in Pakistan as a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation and digital economy.
The federal minister said Google’s local presence represents an important development for Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and reflects growing international confidence in the country’s digital economy. She said the move is also a major step toward Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a “Digital Nation Pakistan.”
Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government’s focus is on connecting Pakistani talent with global opportunities and ensuring that digital transformation creates broader opportunities for young people, women, startups and businesses.
She further said that the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication would continue to strengthen cooperation with Google in areas including digital skills, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud technologies, education, innovation and entrepreneurship.
According to the minister, Google’s local presence is expected to create new opportunities for collaboration in technology and digital skills while helping connect Pakistan’s growing pool of talent with the global digital economy.
