Veteran pop singer Zoheb Hassan has urged the Pakistani government to posthumously award the Sitara-e-Imtiaz to television and stage actress Humaira Asghar Ali, who recently passed away under tragic and lonely circumstances.

In a heartfelt post on social media, Hassan expressed grief over Humaira’s demise and emphasized that conferring the honour would not only recognize her artistic contributions but also draw attention to the isolation and hardships faced by women in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

“This award will make Humaira’s struggle more prominent,” he wrote. “It will also send a message to her family—and to others—that her journey was meaningful.”

Humaira Asghar reportedly suffered in isolation for months, with little to no support from the entertainment community or family. Her death has sparked criticism of the lack of institutional care for women artists, especially those who live alone.

Zoheb Hassan further advocated for improved protection for single women in Pakistan and paid tribute to all women who pursue careers in entertainment despite societal pressures and risks.
