Women’s Inclusion Essential for Pakistan’s Progress, Says PM Shehbaz
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday emphasized that Pakistan’s development hinges on ensuring equal opportunities for women in all sectors. Addressing a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House on International Women’s Day, he stressed the need for women’s empowerment, highlighting their vital role in the country’s economy.
The premier announced that the CM Women Empowerment Program had now been expanded nationwide as the PM Women Empowerment Package. He urged federal and provincial governments to work together to provide women with education, training, and employment opportunities.
Referring to Islam’s advocacy of women’s rights, Mr. Sharif cited examples from Islamic history, emphasizing that women have always played a crucial role in society. He also paid tribute to notable Pakistani women such as Benazir Bhutto, Kulsoom Nawaz, and Bilquis Edhi for their contributions.
Highlighting past initiatives, he recalled his tenure as Punjab chief minister, during which over 19,000 children were rescued from child labor and enrolled in schools. He also praised the expansion of the Rescue 1122 emergency service, calling for an end to political rivalries that hinder good initiatives.
“Let us reaffirm our commitment to a Pakistan where every woman’s potential is realized, and every daughter’s dream is within her reach,” he concluded.
