Wasim Akram Optimistic About India’s Possible Visit to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025
In a recent online press conference, cricket legend Wasim Akram expressed optimism about India’s potential visit to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in the February-March window. Akram referenced positive sentiments from the Indian government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), heightening hopes for an Indian presence at the event.
Akram highlighted that, despite political tensions, Pakistani cricket fans hold Indian players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav in high regard, and assured that India would receive a warm welcome in Pakistan. “I can promise you they are going to get looked after amazingly well,” Akram said, emphasizing that India’s comfort and security would be paramount.
India has not toured Pakistan since 2008 due to ongoing tensions, although Pakistan has visited India multiple times. BCCI’s decision regarding India’s participation will depend on government approval. Recently, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed confidence that all eight teams, including India, will travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
