US Reissues ‘Do Not Travel’ Advisory for IIOJK After Deadly Pahalgam Attack
In response to a deadly attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed multiple lives, the United States has reiterated its “Do Not Travel” advisory for IIOJK. The US State Department emphasized the persistent threats of terrorism and civil unrest in the region, particularly along the Line of Control (LoC) that separates India and Pakistan.
According to local media reports, the attack has triggered heightened security alerts across major Indian cities, with key tourist spots such as Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam placed under increased surveillance.
The advisory also mentions that US government personnel are strictly prohibited from visiting the region due to the unstable security environment. It further highlights that the Indian government often restricts foreign tourist access near the LoC.
American citizens are advised to consult the official travel advisory website before planning any travel, and to avoid high-risk zones entirely.
