Two Pregnant Women Die After Ambulance Gets Stuck in Mud in Thatta
Two pregnant women lost their lives when the ambulance transporting them to the hospital became stuck in mud following heavy rainfall in Sindh’s Thatta district. The ambulance was en route to Mirpur Sakro Hospital when it encountered the muddy road, leaving the vehicle stranded.
Despite the driver’s desperate efforts to navigate through the treacherous conditions, he was unable to free the ambulance, resulting in the tragic deaths of both women. The identities of the victims remain unknown at this time.
This incident occurred in the aftermath of moderate to heavy rainfall that lashed the districts of Sujawal and Thatta last week. Several union councils, including Kothi, Karmalak, Gul Muhammad Baran, and Mugerbeen in Taluka Jati of Sujawal district, were particularly hard-hit by the persistent downpours.
Local sources reported that remote areas within Taluka Jati and Shahbunder in Sujawal district lost road connectivity due to the severe weather, further complicating rescue and transportation efforts. The situation was exacerbated by the failure of local authorities to clear outfall drains in time, leading to overflow and reverse flow, compounding the impact of the rainfall.
