Two-Day Pakistan-Afghanistan Talks Begin in Positive Atmosphere Amid Tensions
According to British media reports, Pakistan and Afghanistan recently began high-level talks in a relatively positive environment. Afghan officials described the discussions as constructive. The Afghan delegation included Intelligence Chief Abdul Haq Wasiq, Deputy Interior Minister Rahmatullah Najib, and other senior officials.
Sources revealed that the initial round took place in Islamabad and was scheduled for two days, with the possibility of extension if necessary. Key agenda items included trade facilitation, border coordination, and regional security cooperation.
Pakistani representatives reportedly expressed serious concerns over increasing border tensions, especially in the Chaman–Spin Boldak region, where incidents of unprovoked firing have been rising.
While both sides acknowledged the importance of continued dialogue, on-ground realities — particularly ceasefire violations — continue to strain relations.
Pakistan reiterated its firm commitment to peace and regional stability but emphasized that any aggression or border violations will be met with a responsible yet decisive response.
